About the Honda Africa Twin 1000DCT

The Africa Twin is Honda's most iconic adventure bike. Its powerful 1000cc parallel twin with DCT automatic gearbox conquers everything from Istanbul's coastal highways to the Belgrade Forest trails with supreme confidence.

The Honda Africa Twin 1000 DCT is an adventure motorcycle that works both in Istanbul traffic and on dirt roads, with a 1000cc parallel-twin engine, long-travel suspension and a dual-clutch automatic DCT gearbox. A full A licence and a minimum age of 25 are required.

The DCT gearbox removes the need to use a clutch in traffic and changes gear by itself on the open road. The sandy turn-offs at Kilyos, the village roads of the Black Sea coast and the forest road towards İğneada are suitable routes for this model.

Compulsory traffic insurance and a helmet are included in the rental; the deposit taken at pickup is €500. With the optional pannier set it can be prepared for multi-day Black Sea tours.

How does the DCT gearbox work, and is it hard to get used to?

There is no clutch lever or gear pedal; the gearbox changes gear by itself, and if you wish you can also change manually with the plus and minus buttons on the handlebar. It is similar to an automatic car; most riders get used to it quickly. We give a detailed introduction at handover.

Can I take the Africa Twin on light off-road?

Yes, gravel village roads and forest roads are within normal use. Difficult terrain, enduro trails and river crossings are not covered by the insurance; we can help you plan a route.
